Jim (James)'s Story
My life story after leaving H.J. After the death of my mother in 1966 I soon dropped out of school in my senior year but decided to return and get my diploma. My dad made the move to Beaumont in 1967 and I only needed one credit to graduate so I attended French H.S. in Beaumont where I took two classes to accumulate my needed one credit to graduate but I was drafted before I could finish so my teachers decided to average my grade score and call it a final exam score so I could get my diploma. Even though I graduated from French, Hardin Jefferson will always be my school. I joined the US Navy in 1968 and became a Navy SEABEE as a Construction Electrician. I was discharged in 1971 as a second-class Petty Officer and resided in Beaumont after being discharged from the military. In 1972 I fulfilled my dream of becoming a Police Officer and joined the Beaumont Police Dept. I left the Police Dept. to chase another career as a Truck Driver and after about 5 years I Bought my own Truck and worked as a Truck Driver/owner operator. and owned a small Home Construction and Remodeling Business. and between the two kept me pretty busy until Covid Hit. and I decided to ...Expand for more
retire. Enjoyed riding Motorcycles, traveling around the country, and cruising. I moved to Lumberton and built a new home in 2000 and have been in Lumberton ever since. Since Retiring I spend my time Traveling the USA and Cruising with my little lady of 22 years Mary doing 2 to 3 cruises a year until Covid hit and recently decided it was time to resume cruising so you will find me traveling the USA and sailing the seas and enjoying what life I have left. I have two sons and four stepdaughters, nine grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter, I am looking forward to attending any planned class reunions and seeing old friends and classmates after all these years. Anyone wishing to plan a reunion and in need of help or a place to have it, I may have access to a nice clean place here just outside of Lumberton large enough to accommodate a pretty good size crowd that has a full kitchen and outdoor grill at our disposal if available at the time. Reservations and a small fee and clean-up after the event will be required. for the use of this facility. Send me a message through classmates and I will respond as soon as I can. I will close by wishing everyone well.
